MINISTRY FOCUS

Through ministry work, we know that our responsibility is "to equip God’s people to do his work and build up the church, the body of Christ".

- Ephesians 4:12 -

Ministry Leadership

The purpose of the Mission is twofold:

First, reaching inward, nurturing our membership through mission study, education, fellowship, and prayer.
Second, reaching outward through personal witnessing, evangelizing, helping the needy and less fortunate, and seeking justice and liberty for all in the name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Primary contact is Modest Mother Chambers.

WOMEN'S MISSIONARY UNION

S.O.P.H.I.A. MINISTRY
Sisters of Purpose Holistically Igniting Action
Women's Ministry

The women of S.O.P.H.I.A. (Olivet's Women's Ministry) have a 2023 emphasis of "Praise reflected through action, movement, and service" led by the scripture in James 3: 17-18.

Our women's ministry gathers every 3rd Saturday from 1:00 - 3:00 p.m. in-person at the Olivet Missionary Baptist Church. Primary contact is Sister Clarice Evans.

LAYMEN'S MINISTRY

To inspire men to support the total program of the church in the local congregation, the community, the denomination and the world. Our men's ministry works to encourage our young men to work in the local congregation, teach them, and train them to become Disciples of Christ. The Laymen's ministry is led by the scripture, "The disciple is not above his master: but everyone that is perfect shall be as his master". Luke 6:40

Our men's ministry gathers every 2nd Wednesday of the month at 6:00 p.m. in-person at the Olivet Missionary Baptist Church. Primary Contact is Brother James Finely.

CHILDREN'S DEPARTMENT
Youth Ministry

Our youth department focuses on the study of God's word, fellowship with other congregations, community service projects, creating space for group discussions, and so much more. They serve by this understanding: We are the church of today and we strive to do our best for the Lord.

Our youth are active in the Berean Missionary Baptist Youth Fellowship. We invite and encourage every youth to attend youth meetings and participate in our annual Youth in Action Sunday. We would love for your child to join us. Primary contact is Sister Benita Weaver.

MUSIC MINISTRY
Adult Choir, Male Chorus, Young Adult Choir, Willing Workers, Youth Choir, Praise Team

Our music ministry is led by Sister Sherry Jones, our Minister of Music. Olivet music focuses on singing praises to God, providing appropriate music for the church worship experiences, and building up and encouraging God's people through HIS gift of music!

YOUNG ADULT MINISTRY

Our young adult ministry is led by this scripture: "Whatever happens, conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ" Philippians 1:27-28.

Our young adults participate in choir, bible study, ministry meetings, and host fellowship Fridays.

DEACONS AND TRUSTEES

The purpose of a deacon is to serve the Lord by conducting the caring ministry of the church. The Trustees of the church are responsible for the upkeep of the church.

Brothers choose seven men from among you who are known to be full of Spirit and wisdom. We will turn this responsibility over to them and give our attention to prayer and the ministry of the word. Acts 6:3-4
